Children’s History Camp at Shadows-on-the-Teche in New Iberia

Shadows-on-the-Teche in New Iberia is hosting a Children’s History Camp for four days in June.

Campers will experience many types of activities at the Shadows History Camp, from making beeswax candles and creating art projects to exploring the natural environment.

In addition to the Shadows staff, guest presenters with share their skills with the young people. The children will engage in experiences including games which represent many historic eras, from the earliest settlement of New Iberia to modern times. Photographs of the campers dressed in 19th century clothing along with campers’ projects will be sent home at the end of the week.

The camp is for children ages 6-11. The five day camp will be held Monday, June 15 through Friday, June 19, 2015 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. each day. The week will culminate with an exhibit of campers’ art projects inside the Shadows on Friday afternoon. Invited guests include parents along with family and friends.

An admission fee of $125 covers supplies and snacks. A limited number of participants will be accepted. Send applications with a check to confirm the child’s registration.
