The University of Louisiana at Lafayette Hilliard Museum and the Association of Cultural Latino Acadiana partnered together to celebrate Cinco de Mayo a little early this year.

The celebration that took place Saturday brought a mix of Latino inspired food, arts and crafts, music and dance. An exhibition of some of Latino influenced artist Kathy Sosa’s work was premiered at the museum during the celebration. The museum and ACLA came together to celebrate not only the Latino culture of Acadiana, but all cultures coming together as one.

Louanne Greenwald, Hilliard art Museum Director: “If you go outside, you will see all kinds of people enjoying the day. All generations and all ethnic backgrounds. It’s really a wonderful way to bring everybody together. Kathy Sosa actually talks about the idea of bringing people of different cultures together. I think that this event is really a reflection of that.”

The museum will continue the celebration by keeping Kathy Sosa’s work displayed throughout the upcoming summer.
