The Lafayette Consolidated Government is waiting to hear the numbers.

The City-Parish Council gave Parish President Joey Durel the okay to start the appraisal process. The council is hoping to purchase the Less Pay motel in order to build a police substation there. Durel tells News 10, he would like to see the substation built to the back of the property, and then add some retail or commercial space at the street front. He says the location is prime property for such a move. Not only is it the gateway into downtown but also the university.

Durel also spoke about adding a fire services component to the site he referred to it as a sort of a public safety complex.
