U.S. Coast Guard Sector Mobile is among a group searching for a missing jet skier.
The Coast Guard received a call from someone at the Fort Morgan Beach Club who said they saw a person on a jet ski get struck by lightning at 3:39 this (Sunday) afternoon.
The caller said the jet ski continued in a southwesterly direction, away from shore, with the rider being dragged behind.
The Coast Guard has a pair of ships and an aircraft in the area searching along with assets from the Alabama Marine Police and Baldwin Search and Rescue.
Authorities are hoping to hear from the public about a possible overdue boater.
