LAFAYETTE, LA (KLFY) — When Lafayette police arrived on scene near the intersection of Louisiana Avenue and Webb Street, the victim, 31 year old Aaron Carmouche of Breaux Bridge was found in the vehicle with a gunshot wound. “The paramedics came and they started doing CPR to try and revive the young man that was in the vehicle who was shot” said Carl Ledet who lives on Webb.
Ledet says they just moved to thier home on Webb, hoping to get away from the violence of their old neighborhood.
“We are probably looking to move again because I don’t want to see this happen. I don’t want my kids growing up seeing that happen because they figure if they see it happen, it’s okay.”
Detectives worked throughout the night, gathering evidence and interviewing witnesses. later that evening, their efforts paid off. “Through the investigation they were able to identify the suspect. He was located in Saint Martin and he was arrested” said Corporal Nicole Oakes of the Lafayette Police Department.
Cord Paul Anderson of Breaux Bridge was arrested and charged with Second Degree Murder. Witnesses says Anderson and Carmouche were in the vehicle when Anderson pulled out a gun and shot Carmouche.
The investigation of the Lafayette Police Department led them to the suspect, identified as 27 year old Cord Anderson, also from Breaux Bridge. Lafayette police then contacted St Martin Sheriff’s and learned that Anderson was booked in the parish jail around 10:30 Wednesday after being served a warrant for charges of domestic abuse battery, obstruction of public passages and blocking private driveways. He now has a hold for Lafayette Parish for one count of second degree murder.
