SHREVEPORT, La. (AP) – Police say a Shreveport man is believed to have fatally shot one of two masked men in an apparent overnight home invasion that also involved illegal drugs.

The man believed to have fired the fatal shot was identified as 21-year-old Austin Holstead. Officers were trying to establish the identity of the dead man and a second suspect, who was on the run Tuesday.

Holstead was not charged in the death. But police booked him with cruelty to a juvenile and illegal use of a weapon with illegal narcotics present. That’s because minor children were in the home at the time of the shooting; and, because police found drugs at the home.

A 23-year-old woman, Kimberly Dowden, of the same address also was booked with cruelty to a juvenile.
