LAKE CHARLES, La. (AP) – A former Calcasieu Parish first assistant district attorney has pleaded guilty in state district court to malfeasance and simple battery.
The American Press reports (http://bit.ly/1eOXZNb) Judge H. Ward Fontenot sentenced Ronnie Rossitto Wednesday to a two-year suspended sentence and two years’ probation.
Prosecutors say the charges stem from a January 2013 incident in which Rossitto inappropriately groped a man after offering to help the victim get his driver’s license reinstated.
Rossitto also pleaded guilty in October 2013 to obscenity and buying alcohol for a person under 21 in Orleans Parish.
Rossitto worked at the DA’s office for more than 30 years. He retired as first assistant district attorney in 2009, but stayed with the office as administrative first assistant until he retired in September 2013 after the allegations came out.
