The threat of severe weather is officially underway here in Acadiana and the tide is steadily rising here in Delcambre. I spoke with some shrimpers a little earlier today and they say this has definitely put their business to a halt.
“This ain’t normal, this is pretty much to the rising point. It’s going to come over the road here shortly,” said Buddy Glover.
Acadiana is under a flash flood watch until 6 pm Thursday. Parish leaders say they are prepared for the bout of heavy winds and rain.
“If a person from the town of Delcambre needs some sandbags they are more than welcome to come get some sand and we had the bags and they can fill up their own bags,” Delcambre Clerk of Court, Jenifer Hicks.
Over in Erath Mayor John Leblanc says they aren’t taking any chances.
“We knew the weather was coming, we didn’t wait, we have about 1000 sandbags and they are already ready.”
