On Wednesday Lafayette Middle School students took part in a program that provides opportunities for young kids to have a bright and successful future.

The Lafayette “gear up” program began in 2008 and allows students to visit college campuses, create detailed graduation plans and prepare them for standardized tests and the enrollment process.

Program leaders say it provides young people with motivation and hope for a prosperous life.
