An executive order passed down from Governor Bobby Jindal on Friday would allow the Louisiana National Guard to arm guards protecting military facilities.
The order states that the National Guard is now allowed to give military guards the means to protect themselves to “preserve the lives, property, and security of themselves and other persons subject to threat of an attack.”
The order comes a day after four marines were killed in a shooting outside of a military recruiting station in Chattanooga, Tennessee.
A second executive order says that flags will be flown at half staff over the State Capitol and all other state buildings in honor of those who lost their lives in the Chattanooga shooting.
