Mourners gathered at Meadow Apartments in Crowley in honor of a 16 year old hit and run victim. The late-night vigil was held in the same spot where Antoinette Rochon was struck and killed. The teen was run over by a car, driven by suspect Landricy Robinson. The 25-year old Crowley native was fleeing a fight, when he allegedly hit Antoinette just before midnight on Tuesday.
As the community released balloons, Bishop Renella Lenard, a resident of the apartment complex, led them in prayer.
“As a mom, I know it’s painful. Knowing that your child left home and was under the determination that she was coming back home and the way she went back home was not the way she expected, so I know that was a hurtful thing,” said Lenard.
Described by friends as a clown who loved making people happy, Antoinette was two months pregnant when she died. The father of her child, Derrian Tezeno, said he witnessed the car hit his girlfriend and back over her again.
“He ran over my feet, when I tried to open the door. I tried to open the door to get him out, then he hit her, he hit her brother,” Lenard said.
Antoinette’s brother, Antonio and 16 year old Mariah Ozone were also struck, but survived.
Robison turned himself into the Acadia Parish Sheriff’s office Friday afternoon, on a warrant for second degree murder. He has also been charged with two counts of attempted second degree murder. He is currently being held in the Acadia Parish Jail on a $300,000 dollar bond.
Funeral services for Antoinette will take place March 14th, at Northside Assembly, with burial to be held at St. Joseph cemetery.
