Lafayette is the setting for a new movie being filmed over the next month featuring the Hub City and its residents.

The beautiful scenery, the great food, and the exotic sound of Cajun music make it easy to fall in love with Lafayette, and that’s the story of a man all the way from Scotland.

Dirt Road to Lafayette is being filmed in the heart of the Hub City.

The movie is based on a boy from Scotland who travels to Lafayette and falls in love with the city and culture.

Producer Marcus Lyle Brown says the Cajun atmosphere plays a major role in the film.

“The music is such a key element of the story, that we want to make sure that the individuals that are performing and dancing and listening to the music and being impacted by the music, are the individuals who are authentic to the culture. So we want to keep everything as authentic as possible.”” said Brown.

The movie takes place during festival season.

While visiting the main character discovers a passion for Cajun music and eventually is faced with a big decision.

Background actress Susan Leger, who is a Lafayette native, says this scenario happens all the time in real life.

“Our culture, our people are heart felt people. It doesn’t surprise me to hear that people come once and decide that I want to live here. We embrace that, we embrace that here locally.”” said Leger.

According to Brown, the film’s purpose is to capture the essence of the city and it’s people.

Filming will take place over the next month and Brown is encouraging everyone to take part as an extra.

Leger says the movie show cases how great Lafayette is.

“This is another way of showing others that haven’t attended out area what its like and the fun they are missing by not being here.”” Said Leger.

So far 150 people from the community have participated in the film.
