Youngsville, Broussard, and Milton fire crews fought a house fire in south Lafayette Parish on Thursday night.

They were called to the 200 block of Kirkwood Drive in Youngsville around 11 pm. Crews say there was heavy smoke coming from the roof, but they had the fire under control within 20 minutes.No injuries were reported from a fire that started in the attic and was heavily damaged. The homeowners thought they smelled smoke and heard popping sounds so they went to the attic and discovered the smoke.The cause is still under investigation.
