On February 19, 2016, Deputies were dispatched to Hwy 90 and Hwy 382 for a report of a BOLO from Gueydan Police. Gueydan Police were interested in a black Buick 4 door car with LA license plate # WNK-951.

Gueydan police had information the vehicle should be occupied by a suspect they are looking for on a domestic abuse warrant. Deputies observed the vehicle crossing Monger Road on Hwy 90 traveling eastbound and conducted a stop of the vehicle.

Deputies got the driver out and identified him by Louisiana Identification card as Dylan James Smith, 24 of 1021 Alcide Circle, Abbeville, LA.  Deputies discovered Smith’s drivers license was suspended. Deputies noticed Smith had a glass meth pipe with a hole in it by his feet which fell as he exited the car.

Deputies requested a k-9 unit to respond. Deputy Gary and k-9 Nero arrived on the scene. Nero alerted to the presence of illegal substance smell emitting from the vehicle and a search was conducted.  Deputies discovered inside the glove compartment a firearm and a clear plastic bag containing a green leafy substance believed to be marijuana along with a white bag with a crystal like substance inside believed to be crystal methamphetamine. Deputies also found a drug scale on the passenger side floorboard with what appeared to be drug residue on it and .380 caliber and 9mm pistol ammunition in the car.

The passenger Lei Cynthia-Marie Vo, 23, 1201 Garland street, Gueydan, La was also arrested and charged with LRS. 14:95E Possession of a firearm in the presence of CDS, LRS. 40:966 Possession of marijuana, LRS. 40:967 Possession of schedule II and LRS 40:1023 Drug Paraphernalia.

Smith was charged with driving under suspension and LRS. 14:95E Possession of a firearm in the presents of CDS, LRS. 40:966 Possession of marijuana, LRS. 40:967 Possession of schedule II and LRS 40:1023 Drug Paraphenila. . Smith and Vo were booked into Jefferson Davis Jail with no bond.
