JENNINGS, La. (AP) – Adjudicated properties in Jefferson Davis Parish may soon be sold online.
The American Press reports (http://bit.ly/1eOXZNb ) the police jury on Wednesday authorized President Donald Woods to enter into a contract with CivicSource of New Orleans to handle the sale of adjudicated property. The contract is subject to legal counsel approval.
Under the measure, the initial cost to the police jury would be $150 per property sale. Other expenses, including tax, title and sale, would total $3,000. Any money made over the sale price would be paid directly to the police jury.
Adjudicated properties are mostly abandoned properties that have been acquired by the parish through tax liens after property owners failed to pay property taxes or properties did not sell at a previous tax sale.
