Kip Judice sworn is as Chief of Police in Duson

Kip Judice and his family were welcomed by the town as he assumes the title of Chief of Police in Duson.Former Lafayette Sheriff Don Breaux pinned the chief insignia onto Judice. Friends and people from surrounding police departments present as he thanked everyone for there support. At Tuesday’s city council meeting, Judice plans to seek a motion to move officer pay from hourly to salary. He asking for an increase of 800 dollars per month per officer based on experience. The new chief position starts at 51,000 dollars, and he is not seeking a raise. Judice also wants to talk to the council about a new police chief clerk, changing that position from part time to full time Judice’s official start date is not until May 1st.
