LAFAYETTE, La. (AP) – Smoking in bars and clubs in Lafayette would be outlawed under an ordinance scheduled to go before the city-parish council May 5.
The Advertiser reports (http://bit.ly/1E61PQT ) Council Chairman Kenneth Boudreaux has been working with Grammy-winning entertainer Chubby Carrier and Tobacco-Free Living to draft an ordinance for the city of Lafayette and unincorporated parts of the parish.
If approved, the ordinance would ban the smoking of tobacco products plus electronic cigarettes or e-cigarettes in bars and clubs.
The New Orleans City Council in January voted to ban smoking in clubs and bars.
