A Lafayette man is now in jail facing hundreds of child pornography charges after authorities allegedly found him in possession of over 500 images of child pornography.

Douglas Ronald Beer, 48, of Lafayette, was arrested on March 9, 2016 after the Louisiana State Police executed a federal search warrant at his home in the 500 block of Santa Anita Drive.

“Beer admitted he had downloaded, viewed, and possessed pornography involving juveniles,” according to an arrest affidavit provided by the Lafayette Parish Sheriff’s Office.

Beer also reportedly told investigators, “his preferable age group were females between the ages of 14 and 35 years of age.”

State Police say they discovered Beer’s IP address on a file sharing network involving child pornography in September 2015 and made contact with him.

Beer then allegedly sent a pornographic image of a 10-year-old girl to State Police investigators, according to the arrest affidavit.

Police say the image had the letters “LS” stamped on it, which is known to law enforcement, “as a series of images of child pornography.”

Beer was arrested and booked into the Lafayette Parish Correctional Center on 500 counts of possessing child pornography and one count of distributing child pornography.

Bond has been set at $75,000 for one count of possessing child pornography along with a $25,000 bond for one count of distributing child pornography, and no bond for 499 counts of possessing child pornography.

A court date has for Beer has not been set yet.
