The Louisiana Garden Club Federation has named Lafayette the cleanest city for 2015.
The federation groups cities by size. Lafayette beat out the cities of Baton Rouge and Metairie in their size category. The contest is judged by members of the Louisiana Garden Club Federation. The Lafayette Garden Club and members of Lafayette Consolidated Government staff prepared for the judges’ visit earlier this spring.
City-parish President Joey Durel thanked the Garden Club and cleanest city committee for their service. He also thanked residents and businesses for keeping Lafayette clean and says “Project Front Yard” has helped. Public Works Director Kevin Blanchard thanked public works employees for their hard work. This honor came just weeks after Lafayette obtained “Tree City USA” status.
It’s the 24th year Lafayette has been named a “tree city”.
