UPDATE:  Lafayette Parish Sheriff Detectives have identified the Fenetre Road shooting victim as 38 year old Sonja Starkey. Detectives say she died as a result of an accidental discharge while she and her husband 44 year old Robbie Starkey where handling a firearm. This case is still under investigated by Lafayette Sheriff’s detectives.

At approximately 10:40 am the Lafayette Parish Sheriff’s Office received information regarding a shooting which occurred in the 600 blk of Fenetre rd. Upon deputies arrival they were told that while the victim and her estranged husband where handling a firearm it accidentally discharged striking the victim. The victim died as a result of the shooting.
