Louisiana’s higher education leaders are devising their own package of ideas to generate cash. This comes after being threatened with losing up to half of their state financing.

College system heads have asked for ideas from campus leaders, and have made suggestions to lawmakers and the Jindal administration. Campuses are reported to be looking for less micromanagement from state officials so they can run independent purchasing and insurance operations. Fee hikes on students and tuition increases are also options being discussed.

The Board of Regents will supposedly talk about proposals on Monday, with the college official’s community hoping to present winning proposals during the legislative session that begins April 13th.
