LAFAYETTE, La. (KLFY) – A Lafayette Consolidated Government employee and another man are in jail after allegedly stealing money from city parking meters.
Corporal Paul Mouton, of the Lafayette Police Department, said Michael Tolbert, 36, and Gregory Davis, Jr., 33, were both charged with felony theft over $25,000.
Police say Tolbert would remove money from the meters and give the money to Davis.
Davis would cash in the coins at a bank.
Investigators believe the two men had been stealing money from Lafayette parking meters as far back as March 2015.
Davis was also found to be in possession of marijuana and was charged with possession with intent to distribute marijuana, according to Mouton.
The case is still under investigation.
