Authorities say a local bishop accused of trying to have sex with a teen boy was released from jail after posting $15,000 bond.

The St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office reports that Bishop Jules Anderson Sr. (56) who ministers at Israelite Divine Spiritual Church of Christ II in Four Corners, was arrested on Thursday on a warrant for attempted indecent behavior with a juvenile.

A deputy noticed a suspicious vehicle parked in a sugarcane field on LA 87 in Franklin on May 15 and decided to investigate. The deputy then discovered Anderson and a 16-year-old boy were in the vehicle. The sheriff’s office stated that the detective later learned Anderson had convinced the teen to go with him for the purpose of engaging in sexual acts.

The detective then obtained a warrant for Anderson’s arrest.
