The woman wanted on second-degree murder charges in the death of her newborn daughter is now behind bars.

Katie Chriceol was arrested on Wednesday in Lafayette.

Acadia Parish Sheriff’s deputies tell News 10 that Chriceol gave birth to a baby girl in her home in late March, but the child went into cardiac arrest and died at a local hospital. Both Chriceol and her baby tested positive for high levels of crystal meth.

She was booked into the Lafayette Parish jail on the murder charge and drug charges.
