LAFAYETTE, La. (KLFY)- Suspended City Marshal Brian Pope was indicted by a Lafayette grand jury on 17 counts of malfeasance in office today.

Each count alleges that public funds were “taken without legal authority” from January to October of this year. Here are the following charges, which include 10 additional malfeasance counts.

  • Count 10: May 31, $1394.16
  • Count 11: June 1, $8487.60
  • Count 12: June 28, $1945.62
  • Count 13 : July 9, $7699.50
  • Count 14: July 31, $3876.23
  • Count 15:  Aug. 6, $7170.90
  • Count 16: Sept. 7, $8330.80
  • Court 17: Oct. 4, $6757.00 

Pope has been permitted to remain on his original bond of $35,000.
