Fat Tuesday’s just a few days away and while the weather is expected to be a bit chilly, folks here in Acadiana say they’re looking forward to the holiday weekend.

“Hoping the weather is going to be nice so we can all go and enjoy this time of year. We look forward to it every year but we never know when our weather is going to be like.” Said Ruth Reaux.

As Mardi Gras Krewes put the finishing touches on costumes, accessories and parade floats others are last minute shopping.

“I needed a mask to match my ball gown for our ball in Crowley.”

And of course, the number one item on everyone’s menu is king cake.

“I have a couple of friends coming into town and I thought it would be great to pick up a key take for them to try, they’ve never been to Mardi Gras so it’s a part of the menu,” Said Jenik Park.

Park says for her and her family king cake is the only thing they eat for breakfast, lunch and dinner.

“It’s a must-have for these next couple of days.”

After Friday night’s parades, Krewes will roll again starting Saturday morning if the town of Washington and the city of Youngsville.
