A Davidson student was escorted out of the arena during Thursday night’s win against VCU after stripping down to a speedo to distract the VCU players during free throw attempts.
The student was actually Luke Burton, a swimmer at the school who recently set an Atlantic 10 record in the 200-yard backstroke. His dancing and speedo-clad distraction tactics seemed to work, as they caused the Rams to miss five of seven attempts at one point before the cops stepped and asked him to put on clothes or leave the building.
Members of the swim team have stripped down to their skimpies for a basketball game before, but on Thursday night Burton was rolling solo for this pivotal A-10 matchup.
Burton told the Charlotte Observer he was wearing — and I can’t believe I’m writing this — a “tuxpedo.”

Burton’s suit was a Speedo designed to look like a tuxedo. Burton called it a “Tux-pedo,” paired it with a Santa hat and said it was “obvious that VCU couldn’t handle it.”
A policeman told Burton he had to leave late in the first half. The policeman was roundly booed, and Burton kept performing for awhile until the policeman insisted he leave
