It’s been almost one year since a tragic accident claimed the life of former Loreauville Mayor Al Broussard. Sunday the town of Loreauville will be painted yellow by residents and businesses to honor Mayor Al Broussard.
He was killed in a head-on collision on April 3, 2015.
Current Mayor Brad Clifton says, “it was a tragic loss” and “you could tell that by how many people were there for the funeral.”
The color yellow represents the crocks that Broussard would wear regularly.
Local pharmacist, Jeffrey Miller remembers how close Broussard was with the community.
“He was a wonderful person,” says Miller, “We should paint the town yellow for Mr. Broussard.”
Painting the town yellow is not all the community plans to do to honor him.
Clifton says “we’ve been talking about changing the name of highway 86 as Mayor Al Broussard Memorial Highway.”
A multi-family garage sale will be held at 7 a.m. on Saturday at 504 N. Main St where the proceeds will be donated to St. Jude Children Hospital in Broussard’s memory.
