CHALMETTE, La. (AP) — A Louisiana man has been arrested for second-degree murder after his wife died of injuries received when he hit her with his truck.
The St. Bernard Parish Sheriff’s Office says 44-year-old William Landwehr, of Violet, and his wife argued early April 5 when he got into his truck to leave. Authorities say the woman approached the passenger side of his pickup and was holding onto the truck when he began to drive off. The sheriff’s office says the woman fell and was hit by the vehicle.
NOLA.com/The Times-Picayune reports Landwehr initially was arrested April 9 for attempted second-degree murder. The sheriff’s office said Wednesday the charges were upgraded May 2, after his wife died.
Landwehr is being held on a $1 million bond. It’s unknown if he has an attorney.
