Prosecutors say a 28-year-old Louisiana man had a blood-alcohol level three times the legal limit when he killed a Port Arthur, Texas, man in September while driving on the wrong side of Interstate 10 in Sulphur.

The American Press reports (http://bit.ly/1eOXZNb) 31-year-old Jeremy Anthony Olivier was killed in the crash.

Derek Paul Cooper, of Moss Bluff, pleaded guilty Wednesday to vehicular homicide. Sentencing is set for Nov. 4.

Prosecutor David Palay said Cooper had a blood-alcohol level of 0.24 percent, three times the 0.08 level that Louisiana law requires to charge an adult with drunken driving.

Palay says Cooper was driving east in the westbound lanes of I-10 when he collided with Olivier’s vehicle. Olivier was pronounced dead at the scene.
