UPDATE: According to Corporal Paul Mouton, detectives have confirmed that the victim sustained injuries from a gunshot wound to the chest rather than being stabbed as initially believed.

The victim remains in critical condition and Lafayette Police are still looking for a suspect.

Lafayette, LA – On March 14, 2016, at approximately 7:00 pm, Lafayette Police responded to the 400 block of Marigold Loop regarding a disturbance.

When officers arrived on the scene they located a male victim lying in the street with what appeared to be a puncture wound to the chest.

The victim was transported to an area hospital and is listed in serious condition.

Witnesses tell officers that a black vehicle was seen leaving the area minutes after the incident occurred.

Detectives are encouraging anyone with information about the incident or the identity of the suspect to call Lafayette Police or Crime Stoppers at 232-TIPS.
