Mark walked into the Lafayette Parish Correctional Center Tuesday afternoon with well-known white collar criminal defense attorney Mike Skinner.

After being released, three hours later on a $100,000 bond, Mark refused to comment to News Ten. Skinner said they would not be making any public comments. The Knight family overall has remained relatively quiet after news broke of his racketeering charge.

In the meantime, the wait continues for the fourth and final co-conspirator in the case, Russel Manual, to turn himself over to authorities.

Major Art Lebreton, with the Lafayette Parish Sheriff’s office said they are in contact with Manual’s attorney, Pat Magee.

“He (Manual) is being cooperative and we are expecting him to turn himself in sometime before Friday,” said Lebreton.

LPSO will also conduct a separate internal investigation into Metro Narcotics agents Jason Kinch and Corey Jackson.

Kinch, a 10 year veteran sheriff’s  deputy and Jackson, employed with the State Police since 2004, were working for Metro Narcotics when they allegedly accepted a bribe from Mark to arrest his brother on false narcotics charges.

The two agents were the first to be arrested.

“The internal investigation will go to Sheriff Mike Neustrom after it is complete,” said Lebreton.

The sheriff’s office said they will continue to move forward, hoping to cast away any doubt from the public.

“We have some many deputies that work hard and take the badge seriously. This was an isolated incident and I think we were able to get ahead of it and they (Kinch and Jackson) will be prosecuted just as any other person would had they committed a similar crime.”
