Maurice Mayor Wayne Theriot expressed concerns about it’s water and sewer systems in an Alderman meeting last week.

The current system is only designed for 2,000 customers and the town of Maurice now has more than 14,000 residents.

Several businesses and multiple neighborhoods including a 53-home subdivision are all planned for this year alone. Theriot asked for recommendations from the village’s engineers on how they could expand the current system. The town’s sewer system was last updated in 2011 which allowed capacity to climb from 1,000 to 2,000 customers. Theriot says the new system could take up to two years, which is why he’s getting a head start on it’s development.

The village’s engineers are  expected to give an evaluation at a board of Alderman meeting this spring.
