This weekend, the New Iberia Downtown Business Association and the New Iberia Main Street Program hosted its inaugural Food Truck Festival on Fulton Street.  (Downtown New Iberia) The Food Truck Festival featured small samples from over 15 different food trucks including:  The Bus Stop Food Truck, Blanchard’s BBQ, Buster’s Frozen Custard, Cakin to the street, Caribe Ice, Cajun Flavor, Chef Gregory Food Truck, The Rock House Kitchen, Munchies Lunchbox Express, Mama T’s, Mad Lu Ann, Kona Ice, Taco Sister Mobil, Rice Kings, Viva La Waffle and The Wop Truck. Two in the Chamber sponsored live music during the event.

The organization is dedicated to increasing the awareness of innovative street food to the New Iberia area.

According to Food Truck Chef Gregory Smith, “New Iberia has a lot of great restaurants, but in the same token, they are not open on Saturday mornings.”

Gregory says the mission is to provide education, advocacy, collaboration, events and promotion of specialty and locally sourced foods through responsible street vending.

The event will take place every second Saturday of the month going forward as a way to highlight the farmers market, and local food vendors.
