Louisiana State Police are investigating two separate motorcycle crashes that happened less than three hours apart Saturday afternoon.

At 5 p.m. on LA 182 in St. Martin Parish near LA 92, State Police say 49-year-old Robert Jackson of New Iberia was riding his 2015 Harley Davidson in the eastbound lane of LA 182.

At the same time, a 1999 Oldsmobile Delta 88 driven by 24-year-old Allyson O’Brien was also traveling in the eastbound lane of LA 182.

Police say O’Brien’s vehicle was stopped waiting to make a left turn onto a private drive when for unknown reasons Jackson’s bike began to brake and he crashed in the eastbound lane.

Police say Jackson was then ejected from the motorcycle as it crashed into the back of O’Brien’s vehicle.

Jackson suffered serious injuries and was taken to Lourdes Hospital where he later died.

Another motorcycle crash happened on LA 1 near Port Allen Saturday evening.

According to State Police, an investigation revealed that 30-year-old Lauren Brocato of Metairie was riding her 2001 Harley Davidson northbound on LA 1 when she failed to negotiate a left hand curve and left the roadway. Brocato continued off of the roadway and struck one of the support columns of the Old Mississippi River Bridge.

Brocato suffered serious injuries in the crash. She was transported to Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center where she later died.
