JEANERETTE, La. –  Authorities are looking for a New Iberia man who allegedly took Jeanerette City Marshals on a high-speed chase this morning.

The suspect’s girlfriend and two other women were in the car at the time, according to Marshal Fernest Martin.

One of the women was wanted on warrants in St. Mary and St. Martin Parishes.

Martin told KLFY’s Carly Laing the pursuit began at 10:27 a.m. when marshals tried to pull over Trey Estelle, 23.

The chase ended a short time when Estelle’s car and three police vehicles crashed along U.S. 90 near Landry’s truck stop, just outside of the city.

Martin did not comment on as to what caused the crash but said State Police were investigating it.

The marshal expects to have a full report on the crash tomorrow morning.

One of the marshals was taken to the hospital as a precaution.

Estelle was able to escape the marshals after the crash.

Authorities attempted a brief manhunt but called off after the search after they were unable to find him.

Estelle, who is still at large, now faces several charges including aggravated flight from an officer, switched license plates, and what Martin describes as a “host of traffic violations.”

Martin explained there could be an additional charge of child endangerment because one of the women in the car was pregnant.

Investigators believe Estelle is currently in St. Mary Parish and has nowhere else to go.

The St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office is currently assisting with the case.

If you see Trey Estelle, immediately call the marshal’s office at (337) 276-7556 or 911.
