LAFAYETTE, La. (KLFY) – I-10 remains closed at the Louisiana/Texas state line and transportation authorities say they have no official timeline on reopening the roadway.
Several media outlets reported the interstate will re-open on Monday but officials with both Louisiana and Texas transportation departments say those reports are false.
Sarah Dupre, a public information officer for the Texas Department of Transportation’s Beaumont Office, says officials are currently monitoring flood waters from the Sabine River.
She also said TxDOT will not open the interstate until the waters have receded and the roadway has cleared a safety inspection.
Rodney Mallett, the communications director for the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development, confirmed the Dupre’s statements and added that officials in both states have no timeline given the “unprecedented amount” of flood waters from the Sabine River.
He said motorists should check 511la.org for the latest road closures and conditions.
Officials from both state agencies said the public would be notified as soon the as the interstate is open.
For now, you can use the following alternate routes to travel between Louisiana and Texas:
- I-49 North to I-20 West (Louisiana to Texas)
- I-20 East to I-49 South (Texas to Louisiana)
- U.S. 165 North to I-49 (Alexandria)
- U.S. 171 to La. 111 continuing to La. 392 West then South on La. 191/Tx. 692 to Tx. Hwy 255 West
