One woman is dead and two people were wounded in a shooting outside a St. Martinville nightclub early Sunday.

Police say the shots were fired, just after midnight, as patrons began exiting the building on the corner of Main and Dernier Street.  Police say the unidentified woman was struck as she was traveling east on Dernier.  She was later pronounced dead at a New Iberia hospital.  The other victims, a male and a female, are being treated at a local hospital.

Following an investigation, police say a suspect was taken into custody for questioning with a second suspect to be interviewed Sunday.

Police have not released the victims identities.  The St. Martinville Police Department is handling the investigation with the assistance of Louisiana State Police.
