BROUSSARD, La. (KLFY) – Police are on the scene of a three-vehicle crash that left one person seriously injured.

The crash happened earlier this afternoon near the intersection of US 90 and Ida Road in Broussard.

Broussard Police Chief Brannon Decou tells News 10 that the driver of a silver car was temporarily trapped inside the vehicle.

First responders were able to remove the person from the car and transport them to a local hospital.

Decou said a moving truck turned in front of a silver car that was traveling westbound on US 90.

The car became trapped underneath the moving truck which, “slid sideways into the pickup truck which was stopped at the intersection,” the police chief explained.

The driver of the silver car was seriously injured in the crash. Deocou said both the driver of the moving truck and the pickup truck refused medical attention at the scene.

All three drivers were wearing their seatbelts at the time.

Police have identified the driver of the moving truck as Iga Nogal, 38, of Texas. Nogal was ticketed for improper turning movements.

Investigators do not suspect alcohol to be a factor in the crash but Decou said toxicology results are still pending.

All lanes of US 90 westbound are now open. Police are asking drivers to use caution as officers are still at the scene investigating the crash.
