New Orleans knows a good thing when they see it! The New Orleans Pelicans made sure budding superstar Anthony Davis stays in New Orleans for the majority of his career. Davis and the Pels agreed on a five year, a five-year, $145 million extension that starts in the 2016-17 season.
By securing Davis, it shows him and the team they are committed to winning. New Head Coach Alvin Gentry can now move forward and continue putting a championship team together, with AD as the centerpiece.
Davis was drafted first overall out of Kentucky in 2012, now, he is widely considered the next big thing in the NBA.
He averaged 24.4 points, 10.2 rebounds, 2.9 blocks and 2.2 assists last season, as New Orleans made the playoffs for the first time in his three seasons.
