Iberia Parish detectives say they are looking for a man who allegedly shot another man late evening on Memorial Day.

Police say they were called to the 600 Block of Hopkins Street around 8:00 p.m. Monday in reference to a shooting and on arrival learned that a male had sustained a gunshot wound and was in route to a local hospital.

Detectives with the Iberia Parish Sheriff’s Office Bureau of Investigations learned that the male was inside his vehicle when he was approached by another male that attempted to rob him.  The victim stated that the suspect then shot him during the course of the robbery.
