Pipleline maker Stupp issues WARN for Baton Rouge operation

BATON ROUGE – Pipeline fabrication company Stupp Corporation of Baton Rouge issued a Worker Adjustment Retraining Notification (WARN) to the Louisiana Workforce Commission.

Stupp began temporary layoffs at its Ronaldson Road operation in late 2015. The company says in its WARN notice that it expects the 2015 round of layoffs and layoffs planned for Feb. 22- March 14 to last for longer than six months and affect more than 114 employees.

The company said it remains hopeful that bids on some projects will be accepted and generate business for its yard, but that it recently was notified it had not been selected as the vendor on several other projects. The company’s business centers on oil and gas pipelines. Stupp officials said they expect only limited soliciations for business bids by pipeline companies unless the oil and gas market improves.
