Update- 4/29/15 6pm:
Shannon Marie Laycock (28) made eye contact with a trooper on I-10 near Welsh and sped up, passing vehicles on the shoulder.
That chase went from Jeff Davis Parish into Acadia parish near mile marker 92, where spikes were deployed. Laycock was arrested, three state police vehicles were damaged, one trooper has minor injuries. Laycock had numerous charges against her right now from aggravate flight to aggravate damage for striking those police units. She is in Acadia Parish jail currently and will be taken back to Jeff Davis to face additional charges.
No word on why Laycock ran from police to begin and lead them on a high speed chase for nearly half an hour.
Details are limited right now as state police investigate.
The female driver led police on a chase that started in Jeff Davis Parish and ended past Rayne next to the overpass on I-10. A crash took place that resulted in damaged state police vehicles, and the woman was taken into custody. News 10 still has a lot of questions at this point. The woman’s name has not been released and state police are still unsure why she ran on the first.
We’ve been told one trooper had minor injuries.
State police expect to release more information within the hour.
