SCOTT, La. (The Daily Advertiser) – The Scott Police Department arrested three men in connection to a hit-and-run accident that ended with gunfire.

Police were dispatched to the 100 block of Des Jacques Road when a neighbor called 911 about a male getting hit by a vehicle. The caller stated that the vehicle had sped from the area and a second caller advised they could hear several subjects arguing and a gunshot.

When police arrived they could not locate a victim immediately and began searching the area. Officers located a subject matching a description of one person involved in the altercation who then began running away.

Investigators were called to the scene and were able to determine that all 3 subjects were involved in a verbal altercation with the driver of the vehicle. The female passenger of the vehicle was determined to be the wife of Veronie who was also involved in the altercation. The three subjects approached the vehicle and began causing damage to it.

The subject, later identified as Justin Snook, was captured and detained for questioning. Police then located Terrance Plaunty and Michael Veronie in the neighborhood.

The victim attempted to flee from the scene when Plaunty threw himself onto the vehicle. It was also determined that Snook had a .40 caliber handgun in his waistband and produced the weapon while the victim attempted to leave. Snook shot the gun once at the engine of the vehicle. The victim was able to escape unharmed and contact police from a convenience store.

Plaunty was later identified as the subject that was struck by the vehicle.

Police arrested and charged Snook with flight from an officer, aggravated assault, aggravated criminal damage to property, felon in possession of a firearm, disturbing the peace, and traffic warrants from Rayne Police Department.

Plaunty was arrested and charged with disturbing the peace and simple criminal damage to property. Veronie was arrested and charged with disturbing the peace and principle to aggravated assault.

All subjects were in booked into the Lafayette Parish Correctional Center. Plaunty was checked and refused attention from Acadian Ambulance Services.
