The South Side Library was the site of a round-table discussion between Senator Bill Cassidy and the local Veterans Action Coalition. The group discussed the proposed Lafayette VA clinic among other issues.
Bill Cassidy says, “My main goal is to make sure the veterans of Lafayette are cared for.”
The first step in achieving that goal is making veterans’ health care services more accessible. The logistics of the Lafayette clinic, which is tentatively scheduled to open in October of 2016 were discussed at large with Senator Cassidy.
Jim Nun, Media Committee Chairman for the Veterans Action Coalition says there’s an unbalanced expenditure. The Alexandria region serves 13 parishes but has spent more money on health care for veterans than the Acadiana – Lake Charles area.
