LAFAYETTE ­– A class on Louisiana concealed weapons carry is set for Saturday, May 16 through SLCC’s Continuing Education department. The class will be held from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and will include range time.

The course is approved by the Louisiana State Police. Upon completion, participants are qualified to apply for a Louisiana Concealed Weapons permit.

The cost of $185 includes a learner’s packet through the National Rifle Association, application for permit, Notary fee, fingerprinting, and lunch.

Course requirements include: must be 21-years-old, have a valid driver’s license, a firearm, 50 rounds of ammunition, and must bring proper hearing and eye protection for the live shooting portion of the class.

A firearm and ammunition for the course can be furnished for an additional $30.
