The Teche Center for the Arts building in Breaux Bridge operates in a movie theater building fro the 1940s.
The facility can currently hold about 230 people, but only has one working restroom. The goal is to raise enough money to build several more.
“Estimate it will cost $46,000 to build new restrooms,” says Sandra Sarr, executive director of Teche Center for the Arts.
The good thing is they already have a good bit of that money collected so they are very close to their ultimate goal.
“Currently collected $38,000. We want to raise $9,000 through South Louisiana Giving Day. We’ve raised half with the Pinhook Foundation,” said Sarr.
Sarr says the arts are very important to the Breaux Bridge community, and the best way to donate to the Teche Center for the Arts new restrooms is online.
“All funds cycle through community foundation of Louisiana,” Sarr said. Go to SouthLouisianagivingday.org for more.
