NEW ORLEANS – The SPCA of Louisiana says it has received a gruesome video that shows a group of young men beheading a goat over a child’s plastic swimming pool with a machete-type of sword.

The video was received by the organization on March 24. The SPCA said it is investigating the incident and offering a $3,000 reward for information leading to an arrest and conviction for those responsible.

Spokesperson Alicia Haefele said the video is 12 seconds long and shows a group of five young men in what appears to be a backyard. They said the video shows the men standing in a circle and a string being tied around the goat’s neck. The goat is then hanged from an object and one man beheads the goat while the others stand and cheer, with some recording the incident on cell phones.

The spokesperson described the video as “horrific,” and said that after the beheading, the goat lay in the swimming pool while its head remained on the string.

Due to the graphic nature of the video, the SPCA is not sharing it at this time.
