(MEDIA GENERAL) – Tony Hawk doesn’t have anything left to prove to the skateboarding world. He’s already done it all; pioneering the sport to new heights. But just in case you thought Hawk’s gotten rusty in his advanced age – 48 – think again.

On Monday, June 27, 2016, 17 years to the day Hawk landed his first “900,” he did it again.

After several failed attempts, a visibly frustrated Hawk lands the trick, slides down the ramp on his knees and throws down his helmet before hugging his son, Spencer, whom Hawk noted was in attendance for the first 900, as well.

The 900 is two-and-a-half mid-air revolutions, a trick he immortalized at the 1999 X Games.

“A lot has happened in my life since (the first 900),” Hawk said in the video produced by RIDE Channel. “It’s been the craziest roller coaster ride. It really was the apex of my competitive career.”

After dominating professional skateboarding for most of the 1980s and 90s, Hawk, who first turned pro at 14, retired from competitions after recording his personal feat. He moved on to business ventures, including the popular video game series “Tony Hawk Pro Skater,” his own skateboard brand and extreme sports exhibitions. But still, Hawk is a skater at heart.

“I never thought I’d be doing this at my age when I was young. I really didn’t think that was a possibility,” Hawk said. “But I’m still going. I’m going to keep going until the wheels fall off, I guess.”
