An Acadiana High School student died Monday after an accident in a physical education class.

He was transported to the hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The identity of the boy has not been released.

However, school officials told KLFY counselors were at the school today talking with faculty and students.

Randy Bernard, a spokesperson for the Lafayette school district, told The Daily Advertiser:

“We are saddened at the loss of one of our students. Out of respect for the family we decline to comment further.”
